The Amazing Spider-Man is Amazing!

I had a bit of a film-tanstic Sunday, yesterday. I’m not one for watching movies or going to cinema.  Yesterday not only did I watch a movie [Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist] but I also went to the cinema and saw The Amazing Spider-Man, in 3-D no less. I’m a bit on the fence about 3-D, more about that later, perhaps.

Amazing Spider Man

So lets tackle Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man [well not literarily have you seen those abs]. Well I did a bit of research and it is ten years since a fresh faced Tobey Maguire popped on to the sliver screen as the spandex clad, wise cracking Superhero, we all know and love. This movie was the template for all Marvel and DC movie adaptations that followed!

Although gifs and pictures have been tumbling around social media sites of the new Spider-Man movie for nearly a year now, I really had no expectations for this movie. I know that this a reboot but when I found what that it was Gwen as the love interest and not Mary–Jane. I did think that this Spidey movie would be set in college. If my memory serves me correctly this is where he meets Gwen in the cartoon.

Nope, they are in highschool, aged seventeen which I must admit I thought it was a bit hard to swallow but I played along. After a quick IMBD search I can now reveal that Garfield is 29!

Spider-Man

I really liked Garfield as Spidey. He pulls of the aloof geek character in charming manner rather than an annoying Edward Cullen manner. He also delivers the iconic sarcastic one liners excellently.
Not only can he be light hearted but so too can he pull of the more serious scenes as a tormented young soul. A typical teenager, in search of who he is! This movie I think plays more into the character development than the previous adaptations of Spider-Man! I love character development :)

The graphics are AMAZING! How they ever made Rhys Ifans look like he only had one arm, without actually amputating it! I will never know. Dr Connor as the lizard was a bit scary! The scenes where Spidey was swinging across New York was soo cool!

My favourite scene; the cheap tricks and accidental hick ups that happen when Peter Parkers powers first start to emerge!
Least Favourite scene; Cringe worthy kiss./ or smashing the camera! I’m camera sensitive!
Looking forward for the next one! Hope the baddies are SCARRIER!!
Yay or Nay  - YAY, Even if you are not a complete nerd and enjoy superhero movies, Andrew Garfield isn’t half bad!

P.S. Look what I found;
Har Har Har:)

OOTD - Floral Dress to Brighten my Summers' Day

I wore this little number a few weeks. I was running into town to pick up a Father's Day pressie for my Dad!

This floral dress has slightly padded shoulders and an A line skirt. I love this dress and this was the first time I had worn it. I felt a bit dressed up just for the small town that I live in, so I throw a boyfriend blazer over it to make it more of a casual look.. This blazer picks up the pink and blue in the dress and brightens the whole outfit.

This dress is soo versatile and I will do a three ways to style this dress I think later in the month of July.

What I'm wearing;
Dress - Charity Shop find -€7 [originally Marks and Spencers about 20 years ago I'd say ]
Blazer- Pennys/Primark -€5-ish I bought it years and years ago!!
Belt- Pennys/Primark -€1
Necklace - A/wear - €5
Bracelet - Claire's Accessories- €??, this belongs to my sister. Fun Fact it is a replica of the bracelet Bella wore in New Moon, it's iconography is St. Jude.
Shoes- You can't see them or I had taken them off but they were green pumps by Clarks!

7 Things for 7 Days

I have been quite blue and introverted for the past month or two. I was under a lot of stress at the end of April and I have suffered from some disappoints this month. I’m usually one who finds the joy in little things but I have been finding it harder these days to do that to see the little things never mind find the joy in them.
I read a blog post by Sprinkle of Glitter, that is her lovely face up there. She wrote about 7 things she was going to do in 7 days to motivate herself and to make herself happier. Which is exactly what I needed so I am hopping on the glitter covered wagon too.
I’m gonna start with seven small goals or less I will stress about them and procrastinate..my favourite past time it would seem.
1)     Apron Up – I bought a sewing machine two weeks ago. I’m in the process of transforming an old dress into a 1950s style half –apron! I want to finish this little craft project by the end of the week / seven days.
2)     Thank You – I feel as if I don’t say thank you enough to my family. Sometimes if you see people every day, day in day out you forget to thank them. So even it is for making me a nice cuppa tea or passing the TV remote I am going to say the T word. 7 thank you(s)for 7 seven days !
3)     Bake – I love baking and I haven’t done it in an AGE and I don’t have an excuse to me honest. So one scrumptious cake, puh-lease. [This is kind of cheating because it is my sisters birthday on Friday so I will baking her cake.]
4)     Apply Apply Apply – Lets face facts. I’m a recent graduate with a strange degree in a world which isn’t that dissimilar to web series Job Hunters, literally a fight till death to find a job. I have been too scared and apprehensive about applying for jobs but this week I will apply for one job!
5)     Get out! – Simples get out and be activate at least four times this week!
6)     Phew it is getting hard to think of things. Finish and post one blog- this one not included!
7)     Fix it- My lappie is on the blink, not enough memory so by the end of week I want to have deleted all those really old and useless files and uninstall the random programs I put on it and never use. If my files on laptop were not virtual and were actual physical things my house would look like one of those weird hoarder reality programs.
I'm gonna try really hard to get these seven things done. I hope I can do it!

OOTD- Midi Length Summer Dress

I love this dress, I recently bought it and I couldn't wait to style.I picked this dress up in a local second hand shop. This particular second hand shop is a bit pricey for second hand but it is the best in town.

The dress, I'm wearing is a very light cream dress midi length with little rose detailing. It has lovely brass buttons that button up all the way up to create a Victorian style collar, however I don't think the high collar suits me so I left the collar unbuttoned. I love the length of this dress, I feel more comfortable during the summer in dress that come pass the knee  as there is no need to wear tights or leggings to hide my ghastly thighs.
I put a belt with this dress because there were belt loops in the dress for a belt but also because I thought it might break up the busy pattern and clinch in my waist.[The smallest part of my body].

For a relaxed summery look, I paired this with a straw hat, sunglasses and a pair of sandals.
This style is just one of many ways that this dress could be styled, it is quite versatile! And I can't wait to try some looks with this dress!!

This is a bit of lie because I didn't actually wear this today as the weather is shocking for mid-June...[shh don't tell anyone. It's a secret]. But I'm like a kid and I just couldn't wait for the sun.

Dress- I bought in a second hand shop but it's orginally from River Island €9
Belt - Pennys €2
Hat- Penneys [last season] €4
Shoes- New Look [last season] €10
Ring - New Look €3
Bag- A Christmas gift.
Sunglasses - Pennys €1.50
[Just realised looking at the prices that is outfit all in all came under €30- well just about, I'm so proud of myself]

-Smell ya later!

PROCRASTINATION

Oh! Procrastination my oldest friend... Please let me do my thesis

A little red notebook!

I have wanted to write something for the past few days even a week but I didn't allow myself in order to get my thesis finished but now that it is done. HAPPY FACE! I began writing ideas I had during the day in a little red diary and to be honest I really enjoyed writing them down in this fashion...I never expanded on these ideas but it did get them out of head. Writing them down made it feel more personal and serective which suits my personality!
While writing down these ideas. A war over written and print war raged in my head. I felt in only far to write and both print this argument. To be print seems cold, calculated and considered whereas penmanship is heartfelt and warming. I know that it is said that nothing can be deleted from the internet. However, things are easily lost and forgetten in the vast ether of online information. No longer will there be boxes of love letters and diaries filling attics but rather lost facebook messages and deleted text messages. That in a few letters simply portray the lust filled unromantic nature of modern man. One word. Shift? or two Out Tonight?. No wooing but an odd cultral belief that any labelling of boyfriend and girlfriend must be denied at all cost or at least for as long as possible. I know from experience that this denial stems from the fear of rejection, but this fear as become some large that now we just ignore as a nation...soon wife and husband will be a thing of the past. .....Sorry that really got away from me and off topic...

Heartwarming Trinkets

I said goodbye for real to Christmas today, today is the day that all of the shiny purple, red baubles were packed away, the glittering lights turned off and the tree unceremoniously was dumped to the end of the garden where it will be cut and burnt or if it is very unfortunate it will sit there waiting to rot away.
I also find this a sad occasion although S says she loves it, it de-clutters the house and everything looks clean again she says. I think the room looks bare, unappealing and most of all unhomely.

I just love Christmas and how it makes the house feel, cosy and warm with just the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree. Just sitting fireside, a cup of tea, soft carols playing in the background and tying ribbons to oddly shaped presents, I just love that feeling. Fuzzy.

I love unwrapping all the decorations from the newspaper that you wrapped them up last Christmas or even the  paper from the year before exclaiming at all the lovely decorations you bought last year [because they are the ones I forget we own] but wrapping the decorations back up and carefully dragging them up to the attic is a somber affair. There are no carols no silly hats to be worn just a lot of pine needles to hoover up and a big empty space in the room that I try unsuccessfully to fill. This while I wrapped up baby jesus in his swaddling clothes of last Sunday newspaper, I thought a year is a long time and I have no idea where I'll be and what I'll be doing by the time to pull this heartwarming trinkets out again!

It is a truth universally acknowleged that....

So yes, my copy of Pride and Prejudice is dogeared and well thumb, I could even say with much certainty that there is in fact more than one copy of the book in this house and all of them are in the same appalling condition but it is not from wanton disregard for the book it is in fact quite the opposite but from love and obsessive reading.  I would love to say that I'm a great fan of Austen however as of yet I have ventured beyond the realms of Longbourn.

I'm of a cynical disposition or so I like to think however by choice of books may tell you otherwise. It would seem that there is at least one romantic novel out there for every woman this however tends to be most women's favourite.  I find it surprising too that so many women fall hopeless in love for Mr Darcy and so I have heard this fictional character once topped a poll for sexiest man chosen by women. I would suppose that this would be that Mr Darcy's likeness is in the mind's eye of every reader. I guess most women love Darcy because he is dark, mysterious and smoldering at first but behind it all he is a sensitive, loving and loyal soul however he only let those he trusts and loves to see this gentle side it must be said that this genteel Darcy is exposed and developed by Elizabeth Bennet. Although it may elude most men what it is that women want in a man it is; one who will protect them from harm yet is not afraid or self conscious to reveal a romantic and soft side to them. Darcy is the archetype of this man, I'm not sure if the desire for this man has been ingrained in women since time began or was it Ms Austen who began this century long search by women for their Mr Darcy. I also believe that most women like to change a man not entirely but to have a influence on his personality, I'm not sure where this desire is born from.
I also believe that most women adore him as he is chivalrous and mannerly, traits that in modern day are rare in men, for me the cause of this deterioration in the behaviour of men is not television or the internet but rather feminism. Darcy loves Lizzy and he asks in return is her love nothing else, not once do they even kiss in this book yet still it is one of the best romances of all times.

Not only have a read Pride and Prejudice an innumerable number of times I have also read a myriad of other works by authors who must be said do not do Austen any favours. I have read a Pride and Prejudice in the point of view of Darcy. I have watched the 2005 and the BBC adaptions of the book. Here I am controversial as I prefer Matthew McFadden as Darcy instead of the much loved Colin Firth. Most recently I watched an ITV programme called Lost in Austen where a girl from the 21st century finds herself in the middle of her favourite novel however her presence there alters the book. I must say in all honesty this was even more horrendous than Darcy's point of view book. What they did to this timeless classic is criminal I understand that the premise of the series was that her being there changes the course of the book but the extend of which it is changed would have Ms Austen spinning her grave, it is unfair that they can just tear apart the fabric of her novel when Austen herself cannot even defend it.
I will always yearn to read more of the great of halls of Pemberley and Netherfields.

p.s I heart Mr Bingley
